3D Model of a Roomba (Objectified Response)

Recently, For my object design class at Auarts, I was assigned to watch the documentary "Objectified" by Gary Hustwitz. This documentary focused heavily on the reality and the complex areas of design. The amount of thinking that is required for an object as simple as a spoon or a fork amazed me. This documentary showed how simple and easy to access design will sell better to the consumers. Such as apple, apple has such an iconic and simple look to it, and its one of the most known things in the world. There was this one part in the documentary where they had a little hamster wheel on the Roomba, and that inspired me to create a Roomba for my assignment. I originally wanted to add a hamster wheel onto mine to add some personality, but I realized quickly that I am not that skilled with making 3d models, which is something I hope to improve on in this class as it is mostly about 3d models. I started off by making a cylinder as the main shape for the Roomba. As the documentary mentioned how much thinking is required in making these objects, I realized that fit in my case here. I was struggling to figure out what shapes I could combine to make more complex shapes, and as my Roomba may not look like much, the time that it took for me to get to that point was so long. I kept accidentally deleting things, or messing up things that I redid the Roomba almost 5 times. The amount of rotating, measuring, resizing, of shapes just to try and make them look like the Roombas buttons was hurting my brain. This project really made me force myself to try and learn how tinkercad worked and how shapes work with eachother. Anyways, here are some pictures of my Roomba, I know its not the prettiest Roomba out there, but I hope it at least looks like one to whoever might be reading this:

(I find this photo very funny) ^

I added the happy face to the Roomba to show some personality and life to it, as I am sure I am not the only one who sees the little robot that is roaming around the house as a cute little pet.
